BD Land Advisor and Commercial Negotiator for Mid Continent and Rockies. Led the Rockies BD team in evaluation of over 5MM acres in several US Basins in the Mid Continent primarily for unconventional Plays and properties to acquire new opportunities, enhance core assets and contribute to growth objectives.
Business Development:
• Delivered 10MMboe + net potential in the company’s entry into the Bakken Shale Play in North Dakota through negotiating a drill-to-earn deal for 50% WI in 200M acres and an acquisition of 85% WI in 35M acres. Results-current 10,000bpd net production from 90 wells drilled to date with drilling continuing.
• Directed top leasing in the Bakken with use of online database. Captured lease status on 310M acres, top leased 20,000 acres until company put project on hold in October 2008.
• Delivered a 50% WI in 50M acres in the unconventional Manning Canyon Shale Play in Utah with 1.5tcf+ net potential in initial test area with potential regional upside. Company test well results indicated a commercial discovery of a new shale play positioning it as lead player.
• Lead Land Advisor in company strategy study of primarily unconventional existing and emerging plays covering entire Lower 48 to identify opportunities. Contributed significant elements of required data and competitor intelligence to this effort, which resulted in the selection of several targets recommended to management. Resulted in setting up a new technical group – New Ventures Unconventional Resource Team.
Staff Landman:
• Handled Staff Landman functions to assist challenged Barnett Shale team for drilling 12 horizontal wells capturing 25bcfe. Delivered several acquisition opportunities to capture additional 10 - 200bcfe. Completed land preparation work for drilling 12-15 additional wells. Handled Staff Landman functions for a rig line in the Bakken Shale Play in North Dakota and assumed land responsibilities for a transferred landman covering 23 drilled and to be drilled as well as 7 new wells, all affected by difficult title issues.
